• Unplug the compactor from the electrical outlet and wait 60 seconds, then plug back in to reset the control system
• Ensure the compactor drawer is fully closed and latched completely
• Open the drawer and visually inspect for any visible obstructions, debris, or foreign objects inside the compaction chamber
• Remove any trash that appears overfilled or densely packed, reducing the load volume by at least 25%
• Check that the compactor is plugged into a working outlet by testing with another appliance
• Verify the outlet has proper voltage by checking if other kitchen appliances work normally
• Gently try to move the compaction ram by hand (with power off) to ensure it moves freely without binding
• Close the drawer slowly and listen for any grinding, scraping, or unusual sounds that may indicate an obstruction
• Check all visible wiring connections at the back of the unit for loose or disconnected cables
• If the error persists after these checks, contact an authorized Amana service technician for motor or drive system diagnosis
