• Ensure the compactor drawer is fully closed and completely seated in the unit
• Open the drawer fully and visually inspect for any visible obstructions, debris, or foreign objects inside the bin
• Remove all trash from the drawer and check that the compaction plate moves freely up and down with no grinding sounds
• Do not overload the drawer—follow manufacturer guidelines by filling only to the designated fill line
• Verify the appliance is plugged into a working electrical outlet and check that other appliances on the circuit are functioning normally
• Remove any non-compactible items such as glass bottles, cans, bones, or hard plastic containers from the trash load
• Unplug the compactor from the electrical outlet for 60 seconds, then plug it back in to reset the control board
• Test the unit with a small amount of soft, compactible trash (paper, cardboard, lightweight plastic) to see if error clears
